It's official. I'm sending out an email and have made the crowdfunding webpage visible. Am I nervous? Yup but excited too. Wish me luck.
This weekend I make a whirlwind trip up to Providence, Rhode Island to rehearse for a day with my cellist, Sophie Chang. Sophie grew up near me and I knew her and her family through our church. Even when she was young, she was a gifted ensemble musician. She majored in cello performance with an undergraduate degree from University of Tennesee in Knoxville (my son's alma matter) and a masters from University of Maryland, College Park. but that was just a start. Moving back to Maryland for a period, besides classical quartet work, she immersed herself in playing for English and contra dances, writing songs and more. Every time we play for services at church we're asked “when are you going to make a recording?" Inviting Sophie to be on 4 tracks (including one that is her composition!) was an easy choice.
